Here’s some cool weather tips for grass just so next season your lawn will be looking good
1. Leave the clippings on the lawn. They will add needed nutrients and organic matter as they break down.
2. Fertilize with a fertilizer that has high amounts of nitrogen every six to eight weeks in Spring and Fall. Avoid fertilizing during the hot months of summer. Grass grows more slowly then, and don’t need the fertilizer.
3. Water to supplement rainfall. In dry summer areas, most cool season lawns need 1-2 inches of water per week. Water deeply 2-3 times a week.
4. Areate every year or two at the most. Aerating increases oxygen to the roots improving water penetration and reduces thatch . You can rent a power areator at a local rental store.
5. Control weeds, insects, and desease if neccessary.
6. A well maintained lawn usually has few problems.
7. Finding out the right grass for your area that grows best is the most important way to make your job easier and keep your lawn healthy.
