BSYPPG

It’s not Snapper anymore so lets give them a break.

It’s BSYPPG and no that’s not Chinese or Hungarian it’s the Briggs and Stratton Yard Power Products Group.

I am sure that BSYPPG will become the biggest name in power equipment in the future but for now Snapper is positioned among the ranks of such brands as Murray, Generac, Giant Vac, Troybilt, Ferris, and Simplicity to name a few.

So with a line up as powerful as this it’s no wonder we don’t hear much from Snapper anymore. Other manufacturers are a little concerned about their primary engine supplier being in direct competition with them in the market place but I am confident that BSYPPG will prevail.

Perhaps the Smithsonian will preserve a few of those good old Snapper Riders so we can remember when they were on top.

I’m guessing this change is for the business and will not be reflected in the look or design of the mower.

Another words the Snapper Mower will look just like it has always looked.

Snapper will look like it always has and in another 10 years it will be the same mower as today. As that BSYPPG mower sells more and more in a Walmart or to a lesser effect but just as troubling…a Home Depot, those companies will require a lower cost and the companies cannot say “No”. Mainly because Wal-mart sells more BSYPPG than any other sutomer of theirs, and they can’t loose the sale, they will move all production over to China and BSYPPG will be a U.S. shell company of a Walmart-China business venture. Just like Huffy Bikes are doing…Oops, Huffy went bankrupt and is now totally made oversees because of contracts with Wal-mart. Look for BSYPPG to do the same. I admire Snapper for pulling all mowers from Wal-mart when Wal-mart started the squeeze.

We are still the same, only better. We still build the best rear engine riders in the world and dont plan to change the design. Our riders will last 15-20 years easy. Now we build Murrays, John Deere, Simplicity, and Craftsman in addition to our great product. We constantly strive to modify and improve these new products to our stringent quality standards. And we are and always will be built in McDonough Georgia, USA.

    Hi Jim,

You can’t be the same but better. Either your better or you’re the same, but it seems that you’re saying that Snapper has been unable to improve on the mower or design since it was originally designed.

As the rest of the world moves ahead at lightning speed Snapper has managed to stand still. However I am glad to see that snapper has got an employee that believes in their mower.

    What’s your position there?

I mean the same…why mess with a great, proven, reliable rear engine rider design?, but better, because of improved Quality control procedures, improved manufacturing processes, consolidated information systems, expanded testing processes, consumer feedback integration into the product, and a dedicated workforce. We build multiple product lines for homeowner and professional. We build an unbeatably pro line as well as the the smoothest driving ztr’s in the business,as well as our “old” Snapper “Comets”. I dont say buy American cause its the “right thing to do”. Buy Snapper cause we are dedicated to build the best mower possible and stand behind it.

It sounds like your still selling a product that the generation before you created. A generation that was laid off or fired to make room for a generation that would do no more than sell their product.

At one time Snapper had a hell of a force with people like Jim Jenkins and Frank Hancock creating and testing new products daily. Now it sounds like after they were fired or laid off (not sure what happened to them) the new generation sat down and went to sleep.

Snapper has or had a hell of a product, but those guys were always trying to make it better.

You yourself said the Snapper rider is a great machine. Its reliable, has one belt, can stand on end for maintenence, has more horsepower that ever, engine avs, easy lift deck,no mow in reverse. You talk like we still build a series one rider. We have many other new machines. Frank Hancock did some great work designing the outfront and midmount but it was a warranty nightmare because of the pumps. Now our commercial ztrs are the best available. Frank hired me in the quality dept.

Well I stand corrected and I appreciate your input and help in helping us understand the facts.

    Thanks so much.
