Once again a lawnmower is on the headlights, this time by causing a fire that burned 10 acres and threatened to reach homes nearby. It took more that 45 fireman with the help of a helicopter and over an hour to secure the fire with no injures or property damage.

A man called and reported that his lawnmower had caught on fire and originated the blaze, said the Police Dpt. in San Jose. The fact that the grass was short was the reason the fire did not spread causing greater damage.

This is why we recommend that if you preoccupied about keeping your lawn cut short in order to avoid a possible fire, you should do so early in the morning when the grass still has some moist and has not been dried by the sun. Sparks coming from the exhaust or the blade hitting a rock or a metal object could easily cause a fire.
