Lots of children are seriously injured each year by riding and pushing lawn mowers .
The emergency dpt. of the University of Michigan Health System’s says that an estimated 30 children under the age of 12 have faced an extremity injury or amputation that`s been caused by a lawn mower – all totally preventable with just common sense or simple advice
Parents normally don`t take steps until it has been to late and an accident has occurred.
Like any other machine that it is not taken seriously, Lawn mowers have the potential to do harm, but people just don’t understand.
Keeping in mind just a few common sense tips will avoid having to be sorry:
Do NOT allow your children to be outside when you mowing the grass, or raking the leaves or blowing the snow, this is not a pass time, it is a job that has to be taken seriously and which by the way, requires that those that are doing it, dress themselves accordingly. Avoid light clothes such as shorts, slipers, etc. Make sure you wear heavy boots, gloves, safety glasses and safety hearing and anything that will ultimately protect you against the hazards.
It is a good idea to travel the area looking for objects that do not belong in your yard. Also, do NOT use you machine as a riding vehicle, this are not made for having passanger.
Finally a little common sense will go a long way in preventing unnecessary accidents.
