The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall Thursday of Honda HRX217KHXA and HRX217KHMA Lawn Mowers due to a fire hazard.

Honda has had a couple reports of a manufacturing defect that allows a crack to occur in the mowers’ fuel tanks, causing a gasoline leak that could in a fire.
The recall involves Honda HRX walk-behind lawn mowers with serial numbers from 1400001 through 1453714. The model and serial number are printed on a label located on the upper rear of the deck. The lawn mowers, sold nationwide, are dark gray with a red engine cover.

I purchased a Honda HRX217KVKA,
Serial #MAGA-1402037 on 10-25-07 at Home Depot in Lake Delton, WI. The serial number seems to be included in the recall but the model number does not appear to match. Would appreciate further nformation. Thank you.

At least it wasn’t anything mechanical. I’ve had my Honda Harmony for 5 years. Bought at a garage sale for $25, and it’s a machine I’ve grown to appreciate. An oil change and spark plug every two years has been my only maintanance. Honda makes a great lawn mower.
